Dahlonega Sunrise Rotary and Lumpkin County's Dr. John Upchurch, former VP at UNG, and wife Becky Upchurch, a retired Lumpkin County educator, have their plates full. John is the new treasurer of the 26,000+ members of the Georgia Retired Educators Association (GREA). Becky is the chairperson of the 26,000+ members plus GREA state Convention. Both John & Becky just finished another big task as directors of the National Hudson Car Convention. All are challenges that John and Becky Upchurch are capable of handling. We are proud to have him as a member of our club.
Club Members assembled a wonderful team to take down the Memorial Markers.
Thanks to their outstanding teamwork, they were finished in record time.

Litton deJarnette lost his courageous battle with Leukemia.
Litton and his wife, Karoline, moved to Dahlonega from Atlanta
15 years ago where he built a beautiful home and loved the lake. He was a
master wood worker, a handyman who could fix anything, and a problem solver
who loved complex puzzles. He was a practical joker with a quick wit and keen
sense of humor that will surely be missed.
Litton had many accomplishments, community involvements, & friends. He
was a past President and Life Member of the GA Water & Pollution Control
Association. A member of the Dahlonega Sunrise Rotary and served as a
Board member & Treasurer of the Lumpkin Co. Literacy Coalition. He
volunteered at the Holly Theatre in Dahlonega and for the Dahlonega High
School Chain Gang for football games. His letter to the Dahlonega Nugget
newspaper helped spearhead the installation of defibrillators in every building
of the University of North Georgia which recently helped save a man's life.
